Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. Newton County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained as needed to answer it. The message remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server and analytics logs can collect technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- Device and operating-system type
- Browser name and version
- IP address
- Referring site, when available
- Pages viewed and time spent
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand aggregate traffic, popular pages, and navigation patterns. Analytics providers help compile that information. A browser can reject cookies, though blocking them may change how some features function.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating and improving site performance
- Routing a search to the selected partner
- Diagnosing errors and security problems
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Newton County Criminal History does not compile, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to Newton County Sheriff, the local courts, GCIC, and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal-history file, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the site's search tools. A partner's privacy policy, retention choices, and sharing rules govern information submitted to its form. Those practices are beyond this site's control, so review the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Newton County Sheriff, court portals, Georgia agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's policy controls. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across sites and select targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring use and performance
- Search providers receiving a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving content
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No online system is completely secure, however, and an absolute guarantee against unauthorized access cannot be made.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Data identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when a valid request is received.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Georgia privacy and consumer-protection law, including the Georgia Fair Business Practices Act, O.C.G.A. § 10-1-390 et seq., may provide additional rights. Georgia public records are separately governed by the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, while GCIC dissemination is governed by O.C.G.A. §§ 35-3-34 and 35-3-35. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal data held about that visitor
- Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
- Request deletion where the law permits it
- Opt out of certain processing where that right applies
